Howdy from the "left" coast.

Its been a warm and beautiful day for the past week.  No rain.  Warm....but scarier is that we did not have ANY rain!  Heard yesterday that a nearby community has plans to begin rationing water in 1 week unless we receive significant rainfall.  It is supposed to cloud up with rain likely tomorrow and Thursday but clearing up by Friday.  The two frontal systems are supposed to drop only about 1 inch of rain.  WE NEED MORE!

Received some bad news yesterday.  My father has prostate cancer.  He did not have an idea as to his Gleason score.  They have prescribed hormonal therapy and will begin this week.  I spoke to my dad and he seemed more preturbed that his internet connection is spotty than antsy about cancer.  I will try to go with him to his next appointment to speak with the doctor and hopefully get a better idea as to the rationale for hormonal therapy and his prognosis.

I must admit, I was a little shakey after I learned about his diagnosis.  His docs have been following his prostatic specific antigen (PSA levels) for over 2 years.  They have been high with a slow rise.  So this should not come as a shock but still...here I am.  My siblings are on polar ends of the emotion scale.  One is angry that they were not told but that one did not return my dad's calls.  The other was non-chalent about the whole affair since my dad has refused their attempts to contact him.  I hope the cancer is still confined to the prostate and has not spread.  They are trying to schedule a bone scan to make sure.

Hopefully his appt will be this week.  If not, I may not be able to accompany him given my travel schedule.
